More on Yaymen from Shakti

28 04 2009

John Abraham in Dostana’s opening credits. Do I hear you girls go ‘oooh’? Well, there’s nothing wrong with women appreciating men and objectifying them. And our own Twitterland has plenty of men, some charming, some cute and some just plain awesome. So we decided to do something fun for all the girls of Twitter. We are going to appreciate the yummy men on twitter. The men who charm us, the men who help us, the men who appreciate us, the men who encourage us and the men who make us feel totally ‘wow!’

If you’ve read @punkpolkadots’ (Michelle) post, you’d realize the world isn’t so kind to men. They are expected to hold doors for us and be chivalrous, but then we turn all feministic and jhap them for being sweet. When they let us be, we complain that they don’t care. We women are complex and yet, these men manage to woo us with their looks, wit and attitude. Don’t you think our men deserve some loving for being able to deal with us?

We, ladies of Twitterverse, appreciate the fact that the men make us feel awesome and that is exactly why we’re honouring the Yaymen. No guys, we’re not objectifying you. Okay, maybe a little. But we are showing you our love, appreciation and respect.

So go on guys, get all your gal pals to nominate you. And girls, only you can nominate Yaymen. You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity to thank all the men who make life oh-so-interesting!

The nomination process for yaymen starts soon. We’re only letting ladies nominate their favourite men. Let’s show them the love girls.

And I’m honoured to be on the Yaymen jury along with @unitechy@punkpolkadots &@spitphyre

It’s raining men, hallelujah!

Jury Fury! – Shakti’s Story

28 04 2009

All those who wonder what’s the new page on my blog all about. Get ready to cheer. Your’s truly is now on the jury of Yaymen on twitter. But it’s not just about twitter, in general, I feel that men don’t get the loving they deserve.

Come on, we love acting all feministic and shunning the fact that we need men, but the truth is, men make life interesting. However powerful we are, men will always stand by our side to just support us. Be it as a friend, brother, father, boyfriend, husband or a plain acquaintance.

Of course, they sometimes make us fret, worry, angry and all that, but be honest, don’t you love fawning over your boyfriend’s laziness or your dad’s eating habits? Don’t you love that they can’t make a decision without you.

I love it. I love it that my brother calls me to ask me what coffee he regularly drinks at Barista or that my best friend depends on me for directions. I love it that the father and the brother would suspiciously eye any guy who so much as looks in my direction. I love it.

And if men make me feel so awesome, why sould I be all coy about appreciating them. The male beauty pageants need to go beyond looks. And that’s exactly what Yaymen is all about. Its about appreciating men, thanking them for their love and attention.

Don’t be shy girls, let the men know we cherish them. Because boys might be stupid but men are awesome.

PS: I dedicate this post to John Abraham in the yellow boxers in ‘Shut up & Bounce’. He takes eye candy to whole new level and he sparked off the Yaymen discussion!
